We have two new positions currently available:

Fundraising Coordinator (20h/week)

We’re expanding our friendly local feminist team to include a mid-level community fundraiser, so Auckland Women’s Centre can keep speaking truth to power while offering an amazing local hub of education, counselling, support and kōrero.

Te Wāhi Wāhine o Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Women’s Centre provides neighbourhood awhi and nationwide voice, as a vibrant feminist community centre offering care, classes, and community events as well as collaborative advocacy for gender equity. We strive to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The role: The Fundraising Coordinator will lead our fundraising efforts — cultivating donor relationships, managing campaigns, and growing our support base. You’ll also coordinate our community engagement, including assisting on our 50th Birthday celebrations this year.

The ideal applicant will have the following attributes:

  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the philosophy and mahi of the Centre
  • An awareness of intersectional feminism and the community sector
  • An awareness of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for community groups
  • An understanding that trans women are women
  • Honesty and transparency
  • Proven success in achieving fundraising targets
  • Strong digital fundraising and campaign management skills (at least 5-6 years’ experience)
  • Confidence and experience in donor database management, preferably Vega
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication abilities
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent digital media creation skills including social media design and videography
  • Can attend up to 10 evening/weekend events each year
  • Passionate about women’s rights and community advocacy
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector is highly desirable
  • Has a full drivers’ license and access to a car

Hours: – 20 hours per week, on a 6-month contract with a view to roll-over.

Wages and conditions: – between $32 and $38 per hour (depending on experience), with an annual cost of living increase on 1 July. We provide a warm working environment and five weeks annual leave.

Women's Services Coordinator (32h/week)

Are you passionate about supporting women and gender-diverse people in practical, compassionate ways? Te Wāhi Wāhine o Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Women’s Centre is seeking a Women’s Services Coordinator to lead our frontline support services.

This role involves coordinating our drop-in, phone and email advice and referral service, managing bookings for our services and community education programme, and supervising our team of amazing tutors, volunteers and student placements.

In this role, you’ll:
🌸 Provide empathetic support and practical referrals to women in need
🌸 Plan and maintain our community education programme, including supporting a team of tutors and placement students
🌸 Maintain strong relationships with community agencies
🌸 Manage service bookings and Centre resources
🌸 Ensure ethical, confidential, high-quality service delivery
🌸 Contribute to the smooth running of the Centre

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the philosophy and mahi of the Centre
  • An awareness of intersectional feminism and the community sector
  • An awareness of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for community groups
  • An understanding that trans women are women
  • Honesty and transparency
  • A strong commitment to confidentiality in regard to client information
  • Experience in working with people in an empathic role.
  • Proven formal or informal social work, community work, or counselling background
  • Good organisational and administration skills
  • Computer and word processing skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • The ability to work with a small group of women in a community-based organisation in a collaborative way
  • Skills in self-management including time management, self-motivation, self-awareness, personal organisation and the ability to work unmonitored
  • A strong understanding of the ethical issues that may arise when working with women and the ability to self-monitor so as to maintain healthy and ethical boundaries with all Centre users
  • Knowledge of cross-cultural issues and an ability to work cross-culturally
  • An understanding of privilege and its impacts on non-mainstream communities
