Solo Mums on Sundays

For solo mums by solo mums

Solo Mums is a monthly peer-support and social group for solo mums and their children five years and under. Get together with other solo mums to connect and share stories in a supportive and non-judgemental space.

  • Fully staffed creche with plenty of toys and games to keep your little ones occupied
  • Snacks, tea and coffee provided
  • Christmas and mothers day parties
  • We often get free food donations to share around

“I did not know any other single mothers before starting the group. Through the group I have felt confident, not alone, and like I can manage this. We are all from different walks of life but have this shared unique experience and have been able to help each other. There is a genuine care and understanding there that we don’t get elsewhere. There is no stigma to be there, which isn’t like my life in general”. – past group member

Time 1pm – 3:30pm
Location 4 Warnock St, Grey Lynn

Feedback from past group members:

“Being a solo Mum is isolating and stigmatising. I feel less alone and more “normal”. It’s such an important resource. I only wish I could attend more often!”

“I found the group tremendously helpful and supportive. I didn’t feel like I was alone and felt it was a safe space for me to share”.

“I like the non-judgemental format. You can sit and chat with other solo mums who are all in very different situations. It’s a good chance to connect with other adults, and have an uninterrupted hot drink/conversation while baby is being played with”.

Running the solo mums group needs $1000 a month, plus extra for gifts and meals at Mother’s Day and Christmas, when we make sure the women know they’re treasured.
So, if many people chip in, we will be able to cover costs.
