Scrapper
We’re back with another movie fundraiser – this time less pink and more “scrappy”!
Auckland Women’s Centre is screening Sundance-award-winning Scrapper, to raise funds so we can continue to support our community. Buy yourself a ticket and join us on the night to do your part in funding services for women and whānau in need.
This 91 per-center on Rotten Tomatoes promises to make us laugh and cry.
Eccentric, feminist director and writer Charlotte Regan says she was determined to make this heavy subject-matter film joyful. “A lot of the working-class cinema I grew up watching was so joyless. Endless trauma. The characters were allowed one moment of happiness in the whole film, looking at a sunset on their balcony. It’s like: ‘How lovely for those working-class people to look at a sunset on their balcony.’ Do you know what I mean?” The Guardian says Scrapper is a film guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
So come and have some fun with us with us, for a good cause!
