SKIP Positive Parenting - Single Mums
Our SKIP Positive Parent Project centres on single mums. It is designed to enable single mums to create, participate in, and lead community based activities such as meet ups, workshops, family fun days and events, which support them to build nurturing relationships with their pre-school children and each other.
Single mums tell us they love the Strategies with Kids, Information for Parents Project because it is non-judgemental, identifies and draws on their strengths, builds solid connections, and uses the power of conversations and humour. Every positive change is affirmed and celebrated.
Reducing isolation, increasing informal support networks and being in a non-judgemental group of women in similar situations is important. What do you want or need in your community for parenting support and fun? We would love to hear from you about your ideas and support how we can. Contact Rochelle email@example.com
Auckland Women’s Centre is committed to contributing toward positive parenting in Auckland.
We offer these services and resources to single mums and their whānau in the community and we undertake to ensure that they are ethical, confidential and accessible.
Thank you to SKIP Ministry of Social Development for the continuing funding and support of the SKIP Single Mums AWC project.

Single Mums Working Groups @ AWC
We have supported single mums by providing a relaxing place to meet up with other single mums. In these working groups we focus on different themes such as managing anger, stress, stigma, coping at transition time, family traditions, how to talk about Dad, food and nutrition, and personal stories of single motherhood, and parenting. Single mums share their experience, expertise, and questions. We can walk away with an extra level of understanding and confidence after discussing these topics. These are parent focused sessions which are co-created and co-facilitated by single mums. We invite and welcome your ideas, input, and leadership.
All session are free and have on-site childcare.
Single Mums Sunday Meet Up@ AWC
Single mums have created monthly playgroups on a Sunday afternoon to meet other single mum families socially. A simple bbq, sauce and bread, coffee, tea, and afternoon tea is provided by Auckland Women's Centre in our warm and comfortable environment. There are plenty of great toys for the children. Single mums are welcome to even if their children are not with them at the time of the meetup.
