The Auckland Women’s Centre is committed to providing safe, confidential, affordable and effective counselling.
All AWC counsellors are fully qualified, professionally supervised and belong to a professional body.
The cost of counselling is $80 per hour. There is negotiability to pay between $40 and $80 where there is financial hardship. Our Counselling Service is not funded or subsidised. The rates reflect a desire to make counselling affordable for most women. If you are able to pay more, please negotiate this with your counsellor.
Below is a range of fees suggested as per your single or partnered household income.

Please bring cash for each appointment as we do not have EFTPOS or credit card facilities here.
If you need to cancel your appointment please provide us with one's days notice of cancellation. Cancellations less than one working days’ notice can expect to be charged for the appointment.
If you are a student counsellor, unfortunately, we do not offer placements here as we do not have the staff resources available to mentor/supervise students. Thank you for thinking of us and best of luck with finding a placement at an appropriate agency.

Jane Tyrer has worked as a counsellor, social worker and in a range of social service roles for the last 30 years. She enjoys supporting people to navigate their way through difficulties, clarify their values and strengths and find enthusiasm for new possibilities. She believes that Counselling is a respectful, negotiated process that highlights skills, resources and insight and that it can offer a place to explore challenges from fresh perspectives and facilitate positive change.
Jane has helped women through all sorts of issues including relationship and parenting concerns, depression, anxiety, stress, disordered eating and body image issues and abuse. Counselling can be optimistic and hopeful without minimising the very real difficulties and challenges that people face.

Crystal Margaret McLean
Crystal Margaret McLean joined our counselling service in July 2017. Crystal identifies as lesbian and offers general counselling as well as counselling specific to women in the Rainbow Community. Crystal has worked with a range of women covering topics including; sexual identity, transgender women, relationships, substance use, addictions, trauma, anxiety, depression and stress. She offers a variety of approaches for example; narrative, CBT, DBT and recovery model.
Crystal holds a degree BPoSP (Bachelor of Social Practice) majoring in Counselling (Unitec). She is a Member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (MNZAC) and is a standard member of Standard Member of DAPAANZ (Drug and Alcohol Practitioners’ Association Aotearoa). Anthea Randell - FREE ACC counselling
Anthea works as a counsellor and trauma therapist. She is a long-time member of NZ Association of Counsellors and has been registered with ACC for many years. She holds a graduate degree in Psychology and Education and a Diploma in Counselling and Family Therapy and has worked in trauma specific agencies, hospitals and private practice.
Anthea feels privileged to assist others in their journey to address the effect of sexual and physical violence and offers daytime appointments on Tuesdays until 3pm.
